bmi Stavanger to Northern Norway Flights to Reduce Costs for Oil and Gas industry

bmi regional will launch its first services in the Norwegian domestic market on 23 January, providing direct scheduled air links between Stavanger and Harstad and Tromsø in the far north of Norway.
The flights will connect Norway’s two fastest growing regions and have been introduced to meet demand from the country’s oil and gas industry.
The services mark the airline’s latest expansion in the Scandinavian and energy-related markets following the launch of its Aberdeen – Kristiansund service in August and its Aberdeen – Oslo route at the end of October.
bmi regional’s decision to launch the routes was taken after the presentation of extensive route development analysis at ONS Norway in Stavanger in August by Norwegian local authorities and economic development bodies.
The “Arctic Flight – Connecting the Norwegian Oil and Gas Industry” report revealed that the energy industry could achieve savings of NOK400 million annually by having faster connections and more flights between the emerging oil regions of northern Norway and Stavanger.

More than 800 companies with a total annual travel budget of NOK2.8 billion responded to the survey.
Cathal O’Connell, chief executive of bmi regional, said: “Our first domestic services in Norway will improve the connectivity available to the businesses and communities in northern Norway and Stavanger. Solid market data combined with engagement from local government, businesses and the airports convinced us to enter this market to meet growing demand from the oil and gas industry and support the socio-economic development of the communities in the north.”

“We are particularly happy that we are connecting the people and communities in northern Norway with their families and friends in the Stavanger region,” said O’Connell.
Daily flights between Stavanger and Harstad and Tromsø start on 23 January 2014. Bookings can be made on www.flybmi.no with fares starting from NOK1195 one way including taxes and charges.
bni regional operates an 18-strong, all jet fleet and serves 24 destinations in eight countries across the UK and Europe.
