Brazilian Delegation Visits Afai Southern

In the morning of November 7th, Mr. Luiz Fernando Pezão, the Vice-Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro of Brazil, heading a delegation of 23 members, payed a visit to the Afai shipyard in Guangzhou, China.

The delegation visited the shipyard and inspected the aluminum alloy ferries that are under construction for the World Cup in 2014 and Olympic Games in 2016.

During the visit, Mr. Wu Mingyi, the General Manager of Afai introduced development and construction situation of 78m aluminum ferry project in detail. Mr. Henk, the General Manager of CoCo Yachts explained the vessel’s optimization design and performance characteristic of the project to the delegation.

Brazilian Delegation Visits Afai Southern

By the international first-class product design, excellent constructing quality and reasonable price, after fierce competition among competitors from 22 countries, Afai Southern won the bidding project. The contract amount of this project is around $110 million, including design and constructing six ferries with diesel fuel and one ferry with dual fuel of diesel and LNG.

The vessels, to be made of aluminum alloy materials, will have the passenger capacity of not less than 2000 each. With the service speed of 18 knots, the vessels will be used to transport passengers between the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói.
