The Vista-class ship Carnival Horizon crashed into Pier 90 while mooring at Pier 88 at the terminal, the US Coast Guard (USCG) said.

No injuries or pollution were reported as a result of the allision.

After launching an investigation into the incident, the USCG has cleared the 133,500-ton Carnival Horizon to sail.

As explained, Coast Guard Sector New York personnel conducted an extensive investigation and examinations on the ship and required multiple technical surveys to ensure it was safe to depart the Port of New York and New Jersey on Tuesday evening.

The USCG found minor structural damage to the bow of the cruise ship, however, the damage does not adversely impact navigation safety.

In addition, the coast guard is working with New York City officials to determine the extent of the damage to Pier 90. Due to restrictions in place on the south side of Pier 90, vessels can no longer moor there until permanent repairs are completed.

Completed earlier this year by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, Carnival Horizon is the second in Carnival’s Vista-class series. With a length of 323.6 meters and a width of 37.2 meters, the newbuild can accommodate more than 6,400 people on board.
