CCB bags COSLPromoter rig survey work

Norwegian Coast Center Base (CCB), a service provider in technical maintenance and harbor operations, has received a letter of intent for a renewal survey of the COSLPromoter rig.

The survey on COSL Drilling’s semi-submersible drilling rig will be performed in May 2017. CCB noted that this is the only survey scheduled on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in 2017.

According to the latest AIS data, the rig is currently located at the Statoil-operated Troll field.

Statoil re-mobilized COSLPromoter to the Troll field in the North Sea in March this year after a two-week suspension. The rig was suspended to enable COSL to implement the necessary actions in order to fulfill the requirements of the contract.

Also in March, Statoil canceled a contract for COSLPromoter’s sister rig, the semi-submersible COSLInnovator, which was involved in a fatal incident in December last year.

The owner of the rig recently sued Statoil over the early termination deeming it unlawful.
