Houston-based LNG exporter Cheniere Energy signed the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal with the LNG engineering giant Bechtel for Sabine Pass Train 6.

Cheniere issued a notice to proceed to Bechtel to commence early engineering, procurement and site works, the company’s statement reads.

Jack Fusco, Cheniere’s president and CEO said, “We have finalized the Sabine Pass Train 6 EPC contract with Bechtel, and we are releasing Bechtel to commence early engineering, procurement, and construction activities for Train 6 ahead of making a final investment decision.”

The company added that the recent long-term sale and purchase agreements could be used to support the Train 6 financing.

Cheniere is developing up to six trains at the Sabine Pass site, each capable of producing 4.5 million tonnes per year of the chilled fuel.

Trains 1 through 4 are operational, Train 5 is undergoing commissioning, and Train 6 is being commercialized and has all necessary regulatory approvals in place, the company said.
