China: Brightoil Petroleum Receives New VLCC

Brightoil Gravity, the second 318,000 dwt very-large crude carrier (VLCC) joined Brightoil Petroleum Group, China-based private joint-stock company, last week, Seatrade Asia Online informs.

According to the company, the carrier is outfitted with onboard blending facility enabling the vessel to combine different grades of cargo while at sea, thus reducing expenses on shore. The VLCC also features fuel reduction solutions that go hand in hand with its cutting edge design.

Brightoil plans to reach a total capacity of over 2m dwt so as to be able to transport circa 20m tons of oil on annual basis. In order to attain that goal the company is pending completion of construction of three remaining VLCCs.

The final units of the fleet are expected to be ready to hit the waters in the beginning of 2013.
