China: Construction of Sevan Driller II Progresses Steadily at Cosco Nantong Shipyard

Construction of the second cylindrical ultra-deep water Semi-submersible Drilling rig SEVAN DRILLER II, being built for Sevan Marine ASA, is progressing steadily and on schedule in COSCO Nantong Shipyard. The 13.4m stage block erection of the main hull is nearly complete and three levels of the accommodation block have been completed. Work on installation of the piping systems and outfitting of the main hull and accommodation has started already, following completion of block erection work. The fabrication above 24.5m is essentially module construction and the plan continues to be optimized. Based on experience gained during the construction of the “SEVAN DRILLER I”, the “SEVAN DRILLER II” project team has succeeded in optimizing the construction plan and pushed the project along considerably more smoothly.
