China: COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard Starts Construction of 150 m Semi-Submersible Barge

Recently, the 150 meter semi-submersible barge, being built for NIMITRANS PTE LTD, kicked off construction in COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard. Representatives from the ship owner and ABS class, and Mr. Zhao Fuqiang, Deputy G. M. of COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard, attended the steel cutting ceremony.

This project is not only the first semi-submersible barge to be built by COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard, but it is also the first new-build order awarded by a Singapore owner. It has great significance for the Zhoushan yard, enabling exploitation of the Offshore Service Vessel market and development of the best project management and production process.

COSCO (Zhou Shan) Shipyard is close to the international sea route and navigation hub clusters in Asia, and it is a newly built shipyard with one DWT 150,000 dock and four piers in service. Importantly, COSCO (Zhou Shan) Shipyard is building a very large ship repairing, building and conversion base composing of three docks ranging from DWT 80,000 to DWT 300,000.
