China: Drillbit spins at Primeline’s new offshore well

Primeline, South China Sea, drilling, offshorePrimeline Energy has started drilling the LS30-3-1 well in the East China Sea using the COSL HYSY 941 jack-up drilling rig.

The new well follows the plugging and abandonment operations on LS23-1-1 well on October 28. The rig was then moved to the LS30-3-1 well location, and the well was then spudded on November 13 and drilling is ongoing.

LS30-3-1 is located approximately 20km north of the LS36-1 gas field platform and is targeting a large channel sand prospect.

According to Primeline, the planned total depth of the well is 1,800m, targeting the same reservoir as that of the LS36-1 gas field. The drilling time is anticipated to be around 25 days.

The drilling of LS30-3-1 is part of the 2 well exploration drilling programme by Primeline in 2015 as part of the rolling development programme anchored on the LS36-1 production.
