China: First LNG Tanker Docks at Dalian Terminal

 

On November 16, Dalian LNG Terminal welcomed its first LNG carrier “Expedient” , indicating that the trial operation of Dalian LNG project is formally commenced.

Located in Dalian, Liaoning province, the project covers an area of 216,000 square meters. As China’s only LNG terminal with loading capacity, Dalian LNG terminal also boasts of functions including LNG unloading, storage, gasification, external transportation, and tanker loading.

Construction of Dalian LNG project was started in April 2008 and completed in April 2011. The first phase of the receiving terminal has a construction scale of 3 million tons per year and designed annual deliverability of 4.2 billion cubic meters. The second phase will have a construction scale of 6 million tons per year and designed annual deliverability of 8.4 billion cubic meters. When the whole project is completed, the terminal will be capable to receive 10 million tons and deliver 13.5 billion cubic meters every year.

Dalian’s LNG sources are mainly from Qatar, Australia and Iran, and its gas supply will cover Northeast China and part of North China.
