CIMC Raffles Hands Over Gulf Driller 1 to COSL

Yantai-based CIMC Raffles named and delivered the jack-up rig Gulf Driller #1 to its owner COSL during a ceremony held on Saturday, the 10th of May, 2014.

Guests from ICBC, which provided financial leasing for the rig,  along with top representatives from COSL and CIMC Raffles attended the ceremony.

This rig will now set out for Bohai gulf for drilling operation.

The Gulf Driller #1 encompasses 59.745 meters in length, 55.78 in width, and 7.62 in depth. It has 125- meter long legs, and can operate in water of 91-meter depth. It can accommodate 110 people, and is classed by ABS.

The basic design for this Super M2 rig was provided by Friede & Goldman from the USA whereas CIMC Raffles was in charge of detail and shop design. The construction of the rig was supervised by Ocean Challenger from Singapore.

The Gulf Driller #1 is the 3rd jack-up rig delivered to COSL by CIMC Raffles since the beginning of the year. The first multifunctional jack-up named Guardian ESV started to work in Bohai Bay on the 25th of February. The 2nd jackup “HYSY932” was delivered on the 16th of April, and it discovered oil successfully in its first drill on May 4th in Bohai block34.
