Huisman equipment ordered for SBM Offshore and Solstad’s installation vessel

Huisman has been selected to deliver advanced lifting and handling systems for an offshore installation vessel being built for the joint venture (JV) of Norwegian Solstad Offshore and Netherlands-based SBM Offshore.

Awarded by CIMC Raffles Offshore, the contract will see Huisman deliver an integrated package comprising a 350mt A-frame, a 500mt knuckle boom crane, a 20mt auxiliary crane, and a 2,500mt basket for the storage of flexibles, fibre ropes, and mooring chains.

According to Huisman, the equipment package will support a wide range of offshore construction and installation activities on the next-generation deepwater offshore installation vessel.

The vessel is targeted for delivery in the first half of 2029. It will be owned by a joint venture company in which SBM Offshore has a 49.9% interest and Solstad Offshore holds a 50.1% stake.

While Solstad Shipping will act as ship manager, SBM Offshore will charter the vessel for its own projects. When not required for SBM Offshore’s installation projects, the joint venture may charter the vessel to third parties.
