CNOOC names new CEO, makes further management changes

China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) on Wednesday appointed Yang Hua as company’s CEO and re-designated executive director while remaining chairman of the company. 

Yang Hua served in a number of positions at CNOOC since joining the company in 1982, most recently as chairmen of the company. He also served as director and president of CNOOC from August 2011 to April 2015, the company’s statement reads.

In addition to appointing Yang Hua as CEO, CNOOC made several other changes to its management.

Wu Guangqi has been re-designated non-executive director and resigned as compliance officer, being replaced by Chen Wei who has also been named as general counsel.

Yuan Guangyu has been appointed as president and executive director, while Li Fanrong has resigned from his position as CEO, president and executive director.

All management changes come into effect on June 15, CNOOC said.
