CNOOC shuffles management, names new CEO

China’s oil and gas producer and LNG stakeholder, CNOOC made changes to its leadership positions with the appointment of a new CEO. 

Yuan Guangyu who is an executive director has been named as the company’s CEO following the resignation of Yang Hua, with effect from April 18.

Guangyu has also resigned from his position as the president of CNOOC, while Xu Keqiang has been selected to replace him as an executive director and the president of the company.

Guangyu joined CNOOC in 1982 and has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has held a number of positions within the company.

Keqiang, joined China National Petroleum Corporation in 1996 and served different positions, and took up the position as CNOOC’s vice president in March this year.

Yang Hua, who retires as the company’s CEO will remain as the chairman of the company’s board.
