CNPC, CSIC Ink Deal for Construction of Two Jack-Up Rigs (China)

On July 3, CNPC affiliated China Petroleum Technology and Development Corporation (CPTDC) and CSIC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co., Ltd. signed a contract in Beijing for building the 3rd and 4th DSJ300 jack-up drilling rigs.

This will further consolidate the strategic cooperation between the two sides and help achieve mutual benefit and common development.

CNPC Chairman Jiang Jiemin and CSIC President Li Changyin had an in-depth discussion on deepening cooperation, and attended the signing ceremony together. CNPC Vice President Li Xinhua and CSIC Vice President Dong Qiang were present at the ceremony.

In December 2009, CNPC and CSIC signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The “1+1” project for overseas customers has initiated the strategic cooperation between the two in the field of offshore engineering equipment. In November 2011, the 1st DSJ300 platform was put into operation successfully. First of its kind to be self-developed with complete proprietary intellectual property rights in China, the 300-feet jack-up drilling rig took the first step overseas among China’s offshore engineering equipment. Currently, the 2nd DSJ300 platform is built jointly by CPTDC and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Corporation, and is expected to be delivered to overseas client within this year.
