Contract for Ocean Rig Skyros Signed

Ocean Rig, a global provider of offshore deepwater drilling services, and Total E&P Angola have signed definitive documentation for  the 6 year contract for ultra deepwater drillship Ocean Rig Skyros.

Ocean Rig Skyros, built at Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard in South Korea, is 7th generation deepwater drillship of enhanced SAIPEM 10000 Design. The drillship will be used for offshore drilling operations at Total E&P Angola’s Block 32.

The contract is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2015 and has an estimated backlog of $1.3 billion.

Ocean Rig owns and operates 13 offshore ultra deepwater drilling units, comprising of 2 ultra deepwater semisubmersible drilling rigs and 11 ultra deepwater drillships, 1 of which is scheduled to be delivered to the company during 2015, 1 of which is scheduled to be delivered to the company during 2016 and 2 of which are scheduled to be delivered during 2017.
