Corps Introduces Baltimore Channels Dredging Program

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has introduced a plan for the Baltimore channels maintenance dredging program.

The areas included in this dredging contract are Brewerton Channel, Fort McHenry, West, and East Channels.

During this cleanup project, approximately 500,000 cubic yards of material will be removed from the Brewerton Channel and placed at the State of Maryland 100 acre Cox Creek Dredged Material Containment Facility (DMCF), located in Anne Arundel County.

Approximately 500,000 cubic yards of material removed from the proposed dredging of Fort McHenry, West, and East Channels will be placed at the 100 acre Masonville DMCF, located in Baltimore City near Brooklyn Park.

The estimated cost of the Baltimore channels maintenance dredging will be between $10 mln and $25 mln.
