Corps Presents Traverse City Dredging Program

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, has introduced a plan for the Traverse City dredging program.

Contract work consists of marine construction and dredging at Northwest Michigan College located in Traverse City, MI, on the south end of Grand Traverse Bay.

During this project, approximately 3,500 cubic yards of deteriorated timber crib structure, fill and broken concrete/rubble will need to be removed.

The marine construction part of the contract includes creation of an approximate 210-foot long by 22-foot wide anchored, double walled steel sheet pile (SSP) breakwater with a 15″ thick reinforced concrete cap.

The estimated cost is between $1 mln and $5 mln, and it is anticipated that the contract will be awarded in August 2013.
