COSL Completes Well Fracturing Test in East China Sea

China Oilfield Services Limited announces the successful completion of a well fracturing test operation at Ningbo 14-3-1 in East China Sea.

At 4,950 meters, this operation writes a new record for depth of fracturing operation COSL has ever performed. The quality of this hydraulic fracturing operation was highly recognized and praised by customers.

Oil bed hydraulic fracturing generally refers to the use of hydrodynamic transmission of pressure: cracks are formed by pumping high-pressure fluid into the oil bed. These cracks are supported by solid particles which are pumped in at the same time. This operation can modify the fluid conductivity of area surrounding wellbore .

The productivity of the well is thus enhanced. Productivity of oil and gas fields decrease gradually in latter stages of exploration. Land bed fracturing is a mature technology for increasing productivity in onshore wells, and is particularly effective for productivity boost of gas fields. Fracturing equipment for offshore use is now fully integrated and its deployment for operations in offshore oil and gas fields is increasingly being promoted. Fracturing business is expected to evolve into one of the most important means that helps offshore oil and gas companies safeguard stable production and steady productivity growth.
