COSLPromoter Gets Clearance to Operate in Norway

The Petroleum Safety Authority in Norway (PSA) this week awarded an Acknowledge of Compliance (AoC) to COSLPromoter rig owned by Stavanger-based COSL Drilling Europe.

This means that the semi submersible drilling rig, built by CIMC Raffles, is now approved for operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Jørgen Arnesen, CEO of COSL Drilling Europe said: “Our competent organization shows once again that the authority’s requirements are met. We are now looking forward to many productive years for COSLPromoter on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.” 

The semi submersible drilling rig, designed for drilling up to depth of 750 meters, has a contract with Norwegian oil giant Statoil. The rig be deployed at the Troll field in the North Sea.

COSLPromoter recently arrived in Norway following a long journey from China. The voyage took 79 days and covered 15,097 nautical miles.
