Uljanik Splashes Stern Trawler 'Taurus'

Uljanik has launched, Hull No. 493 – “Taurus”, the first of two contracted Stern Trawlers constructed by ULJANIK Shipyard for the Russian company CJSC “Taurus” from Murmansk.

The first lady of the launching ceremony, the godmother of the ship, was Ms Ekaterina Kolodkina, Deputy Director for Management and Planning in the shipowner’s company who, with the traditional cutting of the rope, released the ship into the sea.

Mr. Anton Brajković, President of Uljanik’s Supervisory Board, His Excellency Dr. Robert Markaryan, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Croatia and Mr. Yuri Parshev, Director of the company CJSC “Taurus” from Murmansk, were all present at the launching ceremony.

Mr. Milovan at the end thanked the shipowner’s representatives, the Russian Register and Det Norske Veritas for the extraordinary collaboration, as well as all Uljanik workers for the work performed.

His Excellency, Dr. Robert Markaryan, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Croatia emphasized that today’s story is about the continuation of collaboration between the Russian Federation and Croatia which shall continue in the future in all business segments and especially in the shipbuilding industry.

 

The Director of the company CJSC “Taurus”, Mr. Parshev, said that there is great interest in this project in Russia and that this is the first of two trawlers constructed for Russian clients in Uljanik.

“I am convinced that the shipowners will realize the potential of Croatian shipyards, Croatian quality as well as the hospitality, and that the Croatian ship industry will be highly rated in the world,” concluded Parshev.

The ship is 63.85 meters long, 13.5 meters wide, and will be driven by an engine of power 4,500 kW. Even though much smaller, this construction with its complexity continues the Uljanik strategy of constructing more complex type of ships. The Contract for construction was signed in September 2011, while the production process started in August of last year. Uljanik Shipyard has signed, with the same company, the construction contract for a second trawler (yard 492) which will have similar characteristics.
