DECC: Renewables electricity generation share up

UK Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) has released energy statistics report for the second quarter of 2015.

In 2015 Q2, total electricity generated remained unchanged at 78.8 TWh compared to a year earlier.

The share of renewables (hydro, wind, and other renewables) in electricity generation increased from 16.7% in the second quarter of 2014, to 25.3% in Q2 2015.

Low carbon electricity’s share of generation increased from 38.9% in Q2 of 2014 to 46.8% in Q2 of 2015.

Final consumption of electricity during the second quarter of 2015, at 71.9 TWh, was provisionally 1% higher than in the same period last year.

The report covers the 3 month period from June to August, 2015, with comparison to the same period a year earlier.
