Det norske Gets the Nod for Drilling Wildcat Well Offshore Norway

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Det norske oljeselskap ASA a drilling permit for wellbore 6305/9-2, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Wellbore 6305/9-2 will be drilled from the Aker Barents drilling facility (photo) at position 63°26’ 51.86”N and 5°54’ 53.37”E following completion of the drilling of wildcat well 6603/5-1 S for A/S Norske Shell in production licence 392.

The drilling program for wellbore 6305/9-2 concerns the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 468. Det norske oljeselskap ASA is the operator with an ownership interest of 100 per cent. The area in this licence consists of part of block 6305/9. The well be drilled about 30 kilometres east of the Ormen Lange field.

Production licence 468 was awarded on 29 February 2008 in APA 2007. This is the first well drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent upon the operator having secured all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the drilling starts.
