Detained Turkish Bulkers to Be Auctioned Off

A pair of Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carriers were detained in Durban, South Africa, by court decision due to vessel foreclosure, according to local media.

The vessels, owned by Turkish shipping company Kaptanoglu Holding, were arrested by a local court acting on behalf of the Unicredit Bank from Italy.

What is more, the 2010-built Zeynep K and the 2009-built Sadan K bulkers, both over 80,000 dwt, detained in December, are scheduled to be sold in an auction on January 12.

The owner said that this transaction is an isolated issue that does not affect the company’s other business segments.
