Diamond Offshore Secures Contract for Ocean Endeavor Rig (USA)

Diamond Offshore Drilling last night announced it has been awarded a contract for its Ocean Endeavor rig by an undisclosed client. The dayrate for the contract has been set at $521.665.

In its fleet status report, the Houston-based drilling contractor said that the 18-month contract would begin in December 2013, without specifying the location of the deployment of the 1975 built rig.

Ocean Endeavor, a semi-submersible offshore rig, has been working in Egyptian waters on a dayrate of $285.000 for Rashid Petroleum (Rashpetco) and Burullus Gas Co. since 2007.

The rig is capable of operating in waters depths up to 10.000 feet (3048 meters) with a maximum drilling depth of 30.000 feet (10.668 meters).

Diamond Offshore today announced net income for the third quarter of 2012 of $178 million, compared with net income of $257 million, in the same period a year earlier. Revenues in the third quarter of 2012 were $729 million, compared with revenues of $878 million in the third quarter of 2011.
