DNV, KOGAS Sign MOU to Cooperate on EHSQ Projects (South Korea)

Recently, DNV and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) have signed an MOU to cooperate on EHSQ (Environment, Health, Safety, and Quality) projects. According to the agreement, DNV and KOGAS will co-develop a tailor-made EHSQ system through technology cooperation and exchanges incorporating DNV’s ISRS™. DNV will also further provide Safety Culture Evaluation service and training for internal auditing to KOGAS.

DNV has started business with KOGAS since 2009 and in last May, DNV has designed and developed an EHSQ evaluation program for KOGAS which has effectively measured their management system in a globally recognized platform. After experiencing DNV’s competitive service and realizing the need to further improve their EHSQ system, KOGAS has agreed to enter on a long-term relationship with DNV to bring up their EHSQ management system to the world class level.

“We are happy to agree on this long-term strategic partnership with DNV. Through close cooperation, we hope to bring our safety and quality management systems to the next level where we believe DNVs renowned competence and experience can contribute significantly,” says Mr. Park, Young Sung, the Executive Vice President of KOGAS.

Incorporated by the Korean government since 1983, KOGAS is Korea’s sole LNG provider grown to become the world’s largest LNG importer. KOGAS currently operates three LNG terminals and a nationwide pipeline network spanning over 2,739km to ensure stable supply for the nation.

“Entering into a new market is always a strenuous task that requires effective strategy with great effort. Our partnership with KOGAS is definitely a powerful booster for DNV to successfully penetrate and increase our presence into Korean energy market. We see great potential to offer our expertise on LNG segment to KOGAS and hopefully further to other industry players,” comments Mr. Paal Johansen, the Regional Manager for Korea & Japan.
