Dockwise: Record Breaking Installation of Oil Platform Off Myanmar

Dockwise - Record Breaking Installation of Oil Platform

Dockwise Ltd. today announces the record-breaking installation of the close to 30,000 ton fully integrated SHWE Platform over the weekend, topping Dockwise’s previous installation record held at 21,000 tons. The state-of-the-art topside is fully equipped with a hotel and restaurant for about 200 personnel along with both drilling and production capabilities.

The mega topside, Block A-1 “SHP TOPSIDE”, was safely and successfully installed via float-over method. The strategic partnership COOEC ensures access to the world’s second largest installation launch barge, the HYSY229. The massive barge was operated and managed by Dockwise to install the topside on top of the 22,000 ton “SHP JACKET” launched by Dockwise earlier this year.

The Main Tow arrived in the SHWE Field, in the Bay of Bengal, on 8 December 2012 after a 23 day voyage totaling nearly 4,000 nautical miles from Hyundai Heavy Industries’ (HHI) fabrication yard in Ulsan, Republic of Korea. Dockwise will continue to collaborate with HHI to transport and install mega platforms with new assignments in the Dockwise backlog.

“The successful SHWE topside installation and jacket launch mark a significant milestone for Dockwise,” states Alex Rodenburg, Senior Project Manager. “This further validates Dockwise’s evolution into an offshore contracting partner for the transport and installation of Oil & Gas platforms.”
