Dominion’s Cove Point liquefaction and export project in Calvert County, Maryland has progressed during the year.

In its recent construction update filed to the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Dominion said that the project’s overall construction completion is nearing the 20 percent mark.

According to Michael Frederick, V.P. LNG operations at Dominion, the foundation works have been primarily completed with the project coming up from the ground.

Bob McKinley, V.P. Cove Point Construction at Dominion informed that the main cryogenic heat exchanger has been set in place, as well as gas turbines and other major equipment as the project moves on with structural steel works and piping connection.

Dominion revealed in its video update that the project, which will cost between $3.4 billion and $3.8 billion remains on budget and on track for completion in late 2017 when it will produce about 5.25 million metric tons of LNG per year.
