Dong Completes Gode Wind Foundation Setup

Dong Energy informed that the last of 97 foundations at the two offshore wind farms Gode Wind 1 and 2 has been installed.

Altogether, the installation of the 97 monopiles and transition pieces took five months and it was delivered ahead of schedule.

Trine Borum Bojsen, Managing Director of DONG Energy in Germany, said: “It’s a big achievement that we’ve completed this important milestone earlier than planned. I’m happy to say that we’ve installed the foundations within the noise limits imposed by the German authorities.”

In terms of noise mitigation measures, the company used a noise mitigation steel sleeve and a big bubble curtain. Despite foundations being 7.5 meters in diameter, targets for the noise reduction during construction have been met and are lower than the strict maximum of 160 decibels, allowed by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).

The offshore wind farms Gode Wind 1 and 2 are the follow-up projects of DONG Energy in Germany. The first wind project is Borkum Riffgrund 1.

The wind farms Gode Wind 1 and 2 will have a total capacity of 582 megawatts. This is sufficient to provide environmentally friendly electricity to 600,000 German households.
