Donggi Senoro produces first LNG

Indonesia’s Donggi Senoro LNG facility has started producing first liquefied natural gas during last week, according to local media reports. 

The facility is expected to dispatch its first shipment of LNG within the next 30 to 40 days, PT Medco Energi International’s Director, Lukman Mahfoedz said.

The feed gas for the first LNG produced has been delivered from the Senoro gas field that is currently producing 145 mmscfd. The project will gradually rise the supply to Donggi Senoro LNG facility to 310 mmscfd.

The plant started the commissioning phase in September, 2014 with the testing to continue into early stages of operation.

Donggi Senoro has signed agreements with Kyushu Electric and Chubu Electric of Japan for 300,000 mt/year and 1 million mt/year, respectively. Further 700,000 mt/year supply deal was signed with Kogas.

The $2.8 billion DSLNG plant is owned by Pertamina Hulu Energy, Medco LNG Indonesia and Sulawesi LNG Development.

It is located in the Province of Central Sulawesi, about 25 km south-east of Luwuk, the main town of Banggai Regency.
