Drillsearch hits gas at Washington-1

Drillsearch revealed that the first well of its FY2016 exploration program, the Washington-1 in PEL 570 was drilled to a total depth of 3,660 meters and has confirmed elevated gas shows.

Drillsearch holds 47.5% interest in the PEL 570 with Australian LNG player, Santos holding 35% and is operator. Sundance Energy holds the remaining 17.5%.

Drillsearch said in its report that elevated gas shows were confirmed across Toolachee, Epsilon and Patchawarra formations from 3,241 to 3,660 meters, within both sandstones and Permian source rocks.

A net interval of 103.4 meters of gassy Permian source rocks was identified over a gross interval of 420 meters, of which 51.9 meters has been identified as suitable for hydraulic stimulation.

Based on the results, Washington-1 will be ceased and suspended for hydraulic stimulation and testing during this quarter.
