Eidesvik loses two PSV contracts

Norway’s shipowner Eidesvik Offshore has suspended operations for two of its supply vessels, presently on contract with Norsea Group AS.

The vessels in question are platform supply vessels ‘Viking Athene’ and ‘Viking Lady’.

In June 2012, Leiv Eiriksson Consortium, a group of companies sharing the Leiv Eiriksson drilling rig, awarded Eidesvik two contracts for the two PSVs. The firm period was 15 wells + up to 18 optional wells, starting in the first quarter 2013. The Leiv Eiriksson Consortium members are Bayerngas, Maersk Oil, OMV, RWE and Total.

Eidesvik said Monday it has suspended the operation of the vessels as the Leiv Eiriksson Consortium claimed that they have fulfilled the contract.

Eidesvik denied the contracts have been completed, and said the vessels would be kept out of operation until the parties have agreed on terms of cancellation.

As the latest Marine Traffic data shows, the Viking Lady is currently moored in Rubbestadneset, Norway. According to the same source, the PSV Viking Athene, is moored in Kristiansund, also Norway.

Also, regarding the Leiv Eiriksson rig, its owner, Ocean Rig, recently said the rig’s contract would expire in in March 2016, with little or no options for extension. The company said if no employment is found the rig will be cold stacked, and either disposed or scrapped. Read more on that here https://bit.ly/1ZgttnS
