KS said that the sixth generation semi-submersible unit would begin work in Indonesia “in 2019,” without specifying the date.

“The expected value of the contract for the consortium is approximately $95 million,” KS Energy, a parent company of KS drilling said.

The announcement by KS Energy on the Singapore Exchange comes as a confirmation of previous reports from April of Eni taking up the rig for drilling in Indonesia.

Offshore Energy Today has previously reached out to Eni, seeking more info and a confirmation of the reported deal, however, the company spokesperson said that “we do not share such information.”

The SSV Catarina drilling rig is owned by the Brazilian drilling contractor Petroserv. Offshore Energy Today has contacted KS Drilling for more details on its relationship with Petroserv. We will update the article if we receive a response.

According to data provided by Bassoe Analytics, the SSV Catarina is expected to start working for Eni in Indonesia on August 1, 2019, with the contract expected to expire in on July 31, 2021. Bassoe has estimated the dayrate to be around $200.000.

VesselsValue data, however, show slightly different terms. According to the website, the dayrate is around $220.000, and the contract begins in July. Both VV and Bassoe show the rig will stay with Eni for two years.
