Italian oil firm Eni is looking to explore for oil and gas in the Persian Gulf, as Bahrain has invited the company to study and assess the potential of some exploration and production assets in the country.

According to Eni, four agreements have been signed between the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), Tatweer Petroleum and Eni, following the invitation by the country’s authorities.

The signing took place at the presence of the Oil Minister H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, during the visit in the country of Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi.

Under the agreement, Eni will have access to the data for the study of the oil and gas fields potential within the offshore and onshore areas.

At the end of the studies, Bahrain Authorities and Eni will evaluate together the possibility of future initiatives in the Kingdom, with the view to cooperate for further developments of the country’s energy resources, Eni said.
