Eni Norge is entering into a contract for the provision of catering and support services including kitchen and hotel on the Goliat FPSO. The contract also includes two onshore canteens for Eni Norge – at the company’s head office in Forus, and at its regional office in Hammerfest.

In order to find personnel to fulfil this contract, the company is in the first instance seeking people from the local areas in question. ESS and Compass Group Norge are also entering into contracts with an upper secondary school and a training institute in Hammerfest, both with the aim of recruiting locally-based students and trainees to future jobs in the petroleum industry.

Managing Director Therese Log Bergjord at ESS Support Services says:

“We are very pleased that Eni Norge has decided to award this very important contract to ESS and Compass Group Norge. This consolidates our position as a leading provider of catering and meal services in Norway, and represents an important step forward in our aim to achieve a strong presence as part of the exciting growth of the oil and gas industry in northern Norway.

As a leading provider of catering services here in Norway we regard it as our responsibility to make sure we recruit qualified personnel, including cooks. ESS operates with a well-documented training programme, and I can also say that Compass Group Norge has been running an ongoing training programme for cooks for many years.”

District Operations Manager Svein Frediksen at Eni Norge says:

“We are delighted that ESS and Compass Group have won this contract. The provision of catering services is vital – both offshore and onshore because everyone experiences them. This makes it crucial for us to employ a professional service provider. This type of contract also provides great opportunities for local businesses to get involved. We are looking forward to a successful collaboration.”

Headmaster Marianne Sivertsen Næss at Hammerfest Upper Secondary School says:

“Hammerfest Upper Secondary School is meeting the challenge of education offshore catering personnel head on. For the school, a joint agreement with ESS and Compass Group represents a natural extension of our existing course packages for cooks and the catering occupations. This contract is a new step on the road to our becoming a comprehensive supplier of professionals to the oil and gas industry.”

General Manager Kjell Kristoffersen at the Hammerfest Multidisciplinary Training Centre says:

“We are currently supervising apprentices and certified apprenticeship companies for several contractors to the oil and gas industry. The contract with ESS and Compass Group Norge allows us even greater ambitions on behalf of the region. We will make our contribution towards ensuring that the young people of Finnmark get opportunities in an industry which, due to Goliat, is now growing rapidly.”
