Estonia and Finland not giving up on Balticconector
Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas met with his Finnish counterpart Alexander Stubb in Helsinki to discuss the building of gas pipeline Balticconector, connecting the two countries.
Even though the agreement has not been reached yet, Roivas said the meeting was a step forward.
“The agreement is possible, and we must do everything possible to connect the gas networks in Estonia and Finland. Increasing energy security is of vital importance for both Estonia and Finland and as prime ministers, we have an obligation to contribute to the conclusion of an agreement,” said Roivas in a statement.
Ministers will meet again on November 17 to follow up on the recommendation of the EU to raise the question of building an LNG terminal and the Baltic gas pipeline on either Estonian or Finnish soil.
