Vancouver-based Methanex, the world’s largest supplier of methanol on Thursday said it has appointed former Golar LNG chief executive officer, Doug Arnell to its board of directors.

Arnell was CEO of LNG shipping giant Golar LNG from 2010 until 2015, and continues to act as a senior advisor and director to the Bermuda-based company, Methanex noted in its statement.

Prior to joining Golar LNG, Arnell held a variety of senior positions, including at BG Group – now part of Shell, and El Paso Europe.

Arnell, a Canadian resident, also serves as a director of Calgary-based Veresen.
