Ex-Lloyd’s Register man joins offshore division at Bureau Veritas

Bureau Veritas, an international classification society, has appointed ex-Lloyd’s Register man, Nick Brown, as Communications Director of the Marine & Offshore Division.

The organization said on Thursday that Brown will take over for Philippe Boisson, who retired after more than 25 years in the role. The change will become effective on November 2, 2016.

Philippe Donche-Gay, President of Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore Division, said: “Nick will bring us the energy and experience to build on Philippe Boisson’s good work, develop the Bureau Veritas brand and deepen communication with our clients, partners, and the media.”

Nick Brown said: “I am looking forward to supporting BV’s ambitions in marine and offshore at an interesting and challenging time for these vital sectors. This is the right time for me to take a step up to make the most of my abilities, my industry experience and my understanding of marine classification.”

Brown joins the organization from Lloyd’s Register where he spent the last nine years. His last post at Lloyd’s was Head of Brand & External Affairs, Marine & Offshore. He has 25 years of experience in the shipping industry, starting as a trainee with the Wallem Group in Hong Kong.

He also worked in consulting and corporate roles including a period at Intercargo and as a director at the MTI crisis management network.
