Excelerate Energy Starts Preparation Works for Ukrainian LNG Terminal

Excelerate Energy LLC launches a preparation of engineering works for LNG Terminal National Project.

The service agreement was signed on April 16, 2013 in Houston (US) between the “LNG Terminal National Project” State-owned Enterprise and Excelerate Energy LLC, a global market leader of FSRU.

“The US company Excelerate Energy launches engineering works on installation of a floating storage and regasification unit on the Black Sea coast in Ukraine (Yuzhny port). This came to happen due to the contract signed on 17th of April 2013, between the “LNG Terminal National Project” State-owned Enterprise and Excelerate Energy LLC” – said Mr. Kaskiv, the Head of the State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine, during the International Conference LNG-17, being held in Houston, US.

The Agreement appeared as a next step after signing the Framework Agreement on cooperation on November 26, 2012 during a formal ceremony of launching the construction of LNG terminal.

The LNG Terminal National Project expects the results of the work will make it possible within the next year to install a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Yuzhny Port near Odessa with a total capacity of 5 bcm.

Besides, as previously reported, the representatives of Baker Botts law company, specializing in energy sphere, provided a legal opinion on the possibility of unrestricted gas transportation through the Straits of Bosporus and Dardanelles, while the Polish Office of ILF International Company will ensure the pre-project and research works during the development of the first stage of engineering of the ground part of the terminal.
