Experts Explore Challenges of Subsea Pipeline Integrity at One Day Conference in UK

Energy industry leaders will get together to explore the challenges of subsea pipeline integrity at a high-level business conference in London this week (7 December 2012).

Subsea UK is hosting the Subsea Pipelines Integrity Management conference, in partnership with the Pipeline Industries Guild and the Society of Underwater Technology (SUT).

A panel of industry speakers will tackle the latest innovations and challenges of subsea pipeline inspection, maintenance and repair, as well taking part in an open forum offering the opportunity to share best practice, lessons learned and new technology.

Subsea UK chief executive Neil Gordon said: “Understanding and managing pipeline integrity has become a key challenge as we look to maximise recovery in the North Sea. As much of the existing infrastructure comes to the end of its life, new issues are presented.

“Through the formation of Joint Industry Projects, tools, techniques and solutions to assuring integrity are constantly being developed which means we can not only tackle the challenges of today but those of tomorrow in new deeper and further offshore fields.”

He added: “This conference is an ideal platform to exchange ideas, knowledge and technology as well as the opportunity to share best practice to meet business objectives, particularly with regard to legacy assets that are required to continue operation beyond their original design lifetimes.”

To be held at One Birdcage Walk, home of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, attendees will hear leading industry experts from Schlumberger, Wood Group Integrity Management, Xodus Consulting and Innospection Ltd give their views on the pressing issues of pipeline and umbilical monitoring, electromagnetic technology, monitoring pipeline spanning and the future of flexible risers.
