Federal court orders protest halt

Australia’s federal court granted an injunction against the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union and workers who disrupted construction at Bechtel’s LNG projects on Curtis island. 

Bloomberg reported that Bechtel will not agree to the demands of CFMEU for immediate reduction of weeks on week of schedule.

Financial Review reports that Bechtel accused the CFMEU of intentionally trying to derail the new enterprise agreement and escalate the strike action. The company also claims that the union deadlock will harm Australia’s reputation.
