FERC authorizes Freeport LNG to start construction

FERC issued an order granting Freeport LNG a permission to start construction of its liquefied natural gas export terminal in Brazoria County, Texas.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission authorized Freeport LNG to start the construction of the Pretreatment plant, the liquefaction plant and the Phase II modification project.

There are, however, several exceptions as no site preparation may begin on the unloading/loading line until Freeport LNG complies fully with certain conditions of the order, said FERC. Also, construction of the Pretreatment plant electric line and pipeline/utility line system may not begin.

FERC also said that related ancillary areas for staging, storage, and temporary work areas (including the Seaway Dredged Material Placement Area and new or to-be-improved access roads) may not be used, emphasizing that Freeport LNG must comply with all applicable remaining terms and conditions of the FERC’s order.
