FERC to prepare EIS for Fields Point liquefaction project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a notice revealing its intent to prepare the environmental impact statement of National Grid LNG’s Fields Point liquefaction project in Providence, Rhode Island.

With this notice, FERC opens the scoping process and urges input from the public and interested agencies on the project to be submitted before October 26.

NGLNG plans to add liquefaction capability at the existing LNG storage facility located at Fields Point in Providence, Rhode Island. The project would include one 20 million standard cubic feet per day gas pretreatment and liquefaction system to convert natural gas into LNG.

The natural gas delivered to the facility via the existing pipeline would be pre-treated, liquefied, and conveyed to the existing storage tank.

Construction is expected to begin during the fall of 2016 and with start-up anticipated for November 2018.
