Fieldwood Energy hires Rowan jack-up for GOM well

Rowan Companies, a U.S.-based offshore drilling contractor has received a contract for its Gorilla IV jack-up rig.

The one-well contract with Fieldwood Energy in the Gulf of Mexico started in mid-June 2014 at $125,000 per day, below the previous day rate of $180,000.

The rig was idle for 19 days during the second quarter of 2014 prior to starting operations with its current client. The rig will stay with Fieldwood Energy for 40-45 days.

Rowan expects the Gorilla IV will be off rate time for repairs, upgrades and inspections during the first quarter of 2015.
