Flensburger Secures WIV Pair

German Shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has won an order to build two SALT 307 Well Intervention Vessels (WIV) for Siem Offshore.

The new SALT 307 vessels shall be owned by Siem Offshore and chartered by the US based worldwide leading offshore service provider Helix Energy Solutions. The first vessel is expected to be in service for Petrobras mid-2016.

Siem’s new 158 metres WIVs have a beam of 31 metres and are equipped with Helix topside equipment. The vessels are compliant to MODU class and Well Intervention Unit 2 notation.

The cost of the two vessels is expected to be around $420 million.
