Fluxys H1 turnover slightly down

Fluxys Belgium, the operator of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal, said its turnover was at €262.1 million in the first half of this year, compared with €268 million for the first six months of 2014.

In the first six months, the company transported 7.7% more natural gas through its network than in the first half of 2014, mainly because 2014-2015 saw a harsher winter than the previous year, it said in a report on Wednesday.

According to the report, the Zeebrugge LNG terminal was also quite busy during the period.

A large number of ships loaded LNG cargoes at the terminal and the facility remained a popular location for loading LNG trailers in spite of similar services being introduced at other terminals. Since early 2015, small LNG ships bound for small-scale customers operating on the Scandinavian market have also been using this terminal,” the report said.

Fluxys said that a pipeline is being laid between Alveringem and Maldegem, forming the Belgian section of the cross-border link Dunkirk-Zeebrugge.

Progress with the pipeline and the associated infrastructure is on schedule for commissioning on 1 November in line with the construction works for the new LNG terminal in Dunkirk and the French section of the cross-border link connecting the terminal to the Belgian network in Alveringem, it added.
