Four More “Super-Eco-Bulkers” for Qingshan

Four More “Super-Eco-Bulkers” for Qingshan

Hamburg Bulk Carriers (HBC) has exercised options with CSC Qingshan Shipyard to build four more “Super-Eco-Bulkers”.

The 43,500 dwt bulk carriers are designed by HBC, TMS Shipmanagement and the Finnish engineers of Deltamarin Ltd. Two and a half years of work were invested into this project to build up to 12 bulk carriers, of which the first delivery is expected for the last quarter of 2014.

These newbuilds will have the overall length of 189.99 m and beam 30.0 m, with the cargo carrying capacity of 54,000 m3. The service speed at design draft shall be 14.0 knots and the model tested daily fuel consumption at design draft shall be only 18.1 t including 15 % sea margin, ISO conditions.

The design is a modification of a standard design developed by Deltamarin. The calculated EEDI for the B.Delta43 is more than 25% below the required limit, thus already fulfilling the coming requirements of 2025.

So far HBC signed contracts for the construction of 10, out of 12 vessels, originally ordered in June 2013.
