Fourth LNG-fueled tanker delivered to Terntank (Gallery)


Danish shipping company Terntank has received the last of four LNG-fueled newbuilds from China’s AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding.

The company took delivery of the 15,000 DWT chemical tanker named Tern Ocean on Wednesday, March 15.

According to an emailed statement, the vessel will deliver a cargo from Indonesia to Rotterdam at the beginning of May after which it will start operations under its time-charter agreement with the Swedish petroleum company, Preem.

Terntank has already taken delivery of the first three LNG-fueled tankers during last year.

The first chemical tanker, the Ternsund, that has started serving under its time charter deal with Finnish North European Oil Trade (NEOT) distributing refined oil products from the company’s refinery in Gothenburg, Sweden, has been delivered in June.

The second vessel, Ternfjord  is deployed under a time charter deal with ExxonMobil. It is set to distribute refined oil products from ExxonMobil’s refinery in Slagentangen, Norway, was delivered in September.

The third tanker, the Tern Sea has been delivered in November last year.
