Gail Plans to Purchase Four Spot LNG Cargoes

Gail India, the nation’s biggest natural gas distributor, plans to purchase four spot cargoes of LNG in January-March period, Reuters reported today.

Gail is in talks with Macquarie Energy to buy LNG from Freeport LNG Development LP’s proposed terminal in the US, GAIL’s chairman B. C. Tripathi recently said.

The company has in December entered into a LNG sale and purchase agreement with Cheniere Energy under which it has agreed to purchase approximately 3.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG from Sabine Pass train four.
