Galloper Enters Transmission Assets Sales Deal

Diamond Transmission Partners (DTP) has signed an agreement to purchase the transmission assets of the Galloper offshore wind farm in the UK.

The transmission assets included in the sale comprise the offshore substation, two subsea export cables, and the onshore substation.

In November 2018, following a competitive tender, Ofgem selected DTP as the preferred bidder for the transmission license for the Galloper wind farm.

“The offshore transmission regulatory regime is competitive and allows generators to be partnered with the most efficient companies in the market. I’m delighted to have concluded the deal with DTP, one of the market leaders in OFTO operations, and look forward to our positive relationship continuing into operations,” said Guy Middleton, Galloper General Manager.

The Galloper offshore wind farm comprises 56 Siemens Gamesa 6.3MW turbines spinning some 30km off the coast of Suffolk.

First power was generated in November 2017, while the 353MW project was officially inaugurated in September 2018.

The project is owned by innogy SE, Siemens Financial Services, Sumitomo Corporation, ESB and a consortium managed by Green Investment Group and Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets.
